This ancient Roman city is one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Andalusia. It was the first Roman city to be built on the Iberian Peninsula.

Excavated in the last century, next to the town of Santiponce, Italica is the birthplace of two of the most important emperors in history: Trajan and Hadrian. Italica is prestigious enough to be the setting for scenes from the popular series ‘Game of Thrones‘.

The tour of the exciting and ancient Roman city of Italica begins at the entrance to the archaeological site, in the town of Santiponce.

This city was founded in 206 B.C. by the general Publius Cornelius Scipio “the African” and was an important reception point for members of the legions.

In the Roman world, in ancient Hispania, the archaeological site of Italica was of great importance. Today, Italica is considered to be the most important archaeological site in the province of Seville.

Once you arrive at Italica, our official guide will give you a brief presentation of the site. We will then enter the ancient city to discover all its secrets and help you interpret the site. The ancient streets, the mosaics, the thermal baths, the aqueducts and the houses will be some of the wonders that are preserved there and that we will have the opportunity to discover.

The city that saw the Emperors Trajan and Adriano born, Senators of the time and other personalities that had weight in the Empire.

We will discover the famous amphitheatre, the third largest in the world, with a capacity of 25,000 spectators. It was here that the famous gladiator fights took place. More recently, it has been part of the setting for the popular Game of Thrones series.

It is important to be at the meeting point about 10 minutes before the tour time, in order to check-in correctly.
