Excursion to Italica from Seville
35€
per personA place where emperors were born.
This ancient Roman city is one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Andalusia, the first Roman city created in the Iberian Peninsula.
Excavated during the last century, right next to the town of Santiponce, Italica is the birthplace of two of the most important emperors in history: Trajan and Hadrian. The frame is so representative that it is where scenes from the popular series “Game of Thrones” have been recorded.
We will visit the impressive amphitheater, with a capacity of twenty-five thousand people. We will walk through the streets of that metropolis, a unique Roman city where in its new part fabulous villas flooded the city. This was originally designed to accommodate retired soldiers who fought during the Punic Wars in the fearsome Roman legions.
We will pass through the buildings of the city with its multicolored mosaic floors and its statues that adorned the interior gardens.
The archaeological complex of Itálica is a journey through time, a few minutes from Seville, where we will enjoy an unforgettable day remembering one of the most important cultures that passed through our Earth and that left a greater legacy.
Upon arrival at the archaeological site, we will walk through its ancient streets with the help of our guide who will help us interpret and get to know the ancient city, where we will see the Roman theater discovered in the middle of the 20th century, the ancient major baths and its famous amphitheater, one of the largest of the Roman world where the famous gladiator fights took place.
Then we will go to the medieval monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, a medieval monastery that hides treasures from the Mudejar, Gothic and Baroque periods. We will end the route by returning to Seville just before lunch after an unforgettable visit to the Roman ruins of Itálica and San Isidoro del Campo.
